The winner of IBM SmartCamp Sweden has been announced. Predect, with their real-time water detection, charmed the jury with their smart solution, fulfilling the criteria of being Instrumented, Interconnected and Intelligent.

IBM has now fulfilled the event SmartCamp Sweden. The event was for smart entrepreneurs who like IBM want to build a smarter planet. The prize awarded to the winner is a three month long mentorship with IBM, where IBM supports the winner with everything from technical expertise to business goals to new contacts.

Cleantech company Predect claimed the prize from IBM, with their unique water protection system for real-time microbial contamination detection and automatic sampling. The system uses sensors to detect water contamination in real-time, enabling immediate action before the local population start getting sick.

Karl Bohman, CEO Predect – We’re incredibly happy to stand victorious among the tough competition from the very qualified companies, but we are above all looking at a thrilling opportunity to combine IBMs products and services with Predects solution to increase the value for our clients, says Karl Bohman, CEO at Predect. Today we monitor water quality every second in water works. If we have thousand of our systems in different water works across the globe, IBM could help us with compiling all data and construct new services on top of that. We also believe that there is an interesting commercial potential for us to join forces and sell and market these solutions to IBMs new and existing clients within the Water Management segment, Karl Bohman contiunes.

– Predect offers a solution in perfect alignment with our Smarter Planet strategy, where intelligent, instrumented and interconnected solutions can contribute to making our world both smarter and better, says Mauritz Gillberg, Nordic Manager ISV & Developer Relations, IBM. They are also helping to solve a serious global problem where 1,6 million people die from drinking contaminated water.

SmartCamp Sweden was arranged by IBM and business incubator STING, who had another prize to hand out. STINGs prize, is a free admittance to their exclusive sales program. The prize was given to Info24, a digital information broker that enable companies to connect their machines, devices and resources with their enterprise systems and partners.

Five smart finalists made it to the final with mentoring sessions and pitches to a jury
